The GoE is the abbreviated trading name of The Guild of Energists Ltd. We also use the trading name DragonRising Publishing. The GoE is a not-for-profit limited company and whilst we are based in the UK, our membership is worldwide.

We store the majority of our data in highly secure data centres based in the UK, however we also use some companies based outside the UK. For example, we use Google Inc. (USA) cloud-based products to host online spreadsheets and documents.

How Long Do We Keep Your Data & Your Right To Have Data Deleted

You've Taken A GoE Course

We will store at least some of your data indefinitely. As an educational provider and professional body we have a duty to members of the public, employers and insurance companies to be able to confirm if any individual has completed the qualifications they've stated. We also need to be able to keep any complaints made about you by members of the public.

You have the right to ask for your data to be deleted. We'll comply by putting your data out of use, rather than delete.

You've Purchased A Product From Us

If you have purchased a product then we will store some of your data indefinitely. As a service to users, we create a library of downloadable purchased products which can be accessed at any time.

You have the right to ask for your data to be deleted. We'll comply by deleting the majority of your data but will hold a record of who you are and when you asked to be deleted.

Non-Members & Non-Customers

We'll automatically delete or put out of use data for people that have had no contact within five years.

Unsubscribing & Opting-Out of Marketing

We only want to contact interested people in the ways they wish to be contacted, so please get in touch at any time to relay your preferences to us.

GoE Member Responsibilities

Member Profile

All Professional Members of The GoE are given an optional members website to advertise themselves to the general public. This area is the members own responsibility to update and contains a free-text field where they can highlight their qualifications, experience, background, awards, etc.

Each member is fully responsible for their own free-text. Please note that staff at The GoE can remove or edit what you've written at any time without notice. Reasons could include: content being out-of-date, grammatical/spelling errors, contains inappropriate content, you ask us to update it for you, etc.

On a members website we'll also display:

It is a members own responsibility to update their member website, as well as being responsible for the content on their profile page.

Updating Information

Please may all GoE Members keep the data we hold on them up-to-date. For example, if you move house, or change phone numbers, then you need to let us know so our staff and members of the public can contact you more easily.

Damaged or Missing Goods

If you have purchased goods from us that are either missing or damaged, let us know immediately through our contact forms and no later than 4 weeks after the product was ordered so we can rectify the situation with either a refund or replacement at our discretion. After four weeks from the orders date, we will no longer refund or replace missing or damaged orders.

Refunds Policy

We will happily refund a sale if the product is not of merchantable quality or if the product description does not match the received product. Please contact us as soon as you become aware of the fault, or at latest within 14 days of placing the order.

If you create an automatic subscription payment to the GoE by PayPal (for example for GoE membership) but subsequently do not wish to continue with it, please cancel the subscription through PayPal's Website before the next payment is due. We are unable to refund any subscription payments that have already been taken from your card or bank account but on request will cancel future payments for you.

Terms and Conditions for Events

Most events organised directly by the Guild of Energists Ltd are booked subject to the events specific terms and conditions, including information on cancellation, refunds, ticket touting and the recording of audio and video.
