An early autumn poem

The autumnal leaves,

Painting the ground in a sea of splendor

Weaving a tapestry of delights to crunch beneath my feet.

Please give a story that will show me my own glory

And help me shine like the bright light divine.

I can feel my pulse flowing beneath my skin

So smooth, strong and constant.

Do we ever pause throughout the day to say thank you to our dear hearts

Which beat lovingly throughout night and day,

Through good times and bad,

Throughout love and the emotions of carnage?

This day, my dear heart, I would like to dedicate to you

To say thank you for everything you have done for me

Keeping me alive when I was in the pits of a drug induced slumber

For keeping me strong when my emotions were failing me.

I cannot express in words how much I love you

How much gratitude I have for you

Beating unceasingly beneath my skin

Sending wave after wave of rich blood throughout my being.

This day my dear heart, I offer to you.
