Finding The River by Sally Topham

Epilogue

I’ve never written a book before, and I have to say that in the beginning, the task felt more than a little daunting. I definitely got lost in the jungle and took some wrong turnings before I found the stream that led me in the right direction!

EFT and EmoTrance came to the rescue and got me through several attacks of writer’s block. Other first aid techniques included liberal doses of Reiki (both received and self administered), not to mention pacing myself, meditating and generally walking my talk! I’m also much indebted to the skillful encouragement of my mentor, Silvia Hartmann, to whom I’m eternally grateful for helping me to complete such a major undertaking.

In the process of writing, I was continually reminded of how much we can learn from Nature’s ability to adapt herself to upheavals, obstacles and difficulties. Her tenacity and flexibility provides an inspirational example of how to survive and continue to grow even in adversity. My first spiritual and personal growth teacher was always saying, “When things get bad, remember how plants can grow through concrete!” I’ve never forgotten that, and his words still echo in my mind when the going gets tough.

It’s very easy to lose sight of what we can do to help ourselves when the mind is solid with too many thoughts or anxieties. We can so easily slide into mental swings and roundabouts and spiral down into pain or negativity, or reach a point of exhaustion and overwhelm. I hope so much that this book helps you to understand that there’s always a way through these things, that we don’t have to become “victims” and that there’s so much more we can do to help and heal ourselves than we might imagine.

We’re all energetic beings living in an energetic world with a powerful connection between mind, body and spirit. We’re multi-levelled creatures with physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects to us, and our personal and spiritual development encompasses all of these levels. The aim of Finding the River is to start recognising and working with that energy, integrating the scattered parts of ourselves, acknowledging our uniqueness, and flowing with our potential.

If you’re just beginning your journey of healing and self-discovery, I hope you find that the things I’ve taught you in this book inspire you to take your first steps. If you’re already on your way, my wish is that it encourages you to adventure farther afield and embrace new ideas and techniques. And if you’ve been travelling for some time, I really hope it supports you on every level as you tread the path towards discovering who you really are.

With love and blessings

Sally
