In this story, one traveller arrived on a vast plain beneath a bright blue summer sky.
The ground was covered entirely in small pebbles stretching all the way to the horizon.
At first, the landscape seemed empty.
Then the traveller noticed movement among the stones.
There were tiny people, tiny horses and miniature buildings hidden between the pebbles. Looking closer revealed an ancient city with enormous gates, busy streets and a thriving population.
To enter the city, the traveller became smaller.
The pebbles rose into mountains, and the tiny gate became a monumental entrance. But before stepping through, a new question appeared.
Was this the only civilisation here?
The traveller returned to a larger viewpoint and looked across the plain again.
Every cluster of stones contained another world.
There were cities beside rivers, communities of monkey-like beings, ancient kingdoms, strange alien settlements and countless cultures living across different scales and periods of time.
The discovery was almost overwhelming.
To explore safely, the traveller transformed into a gentle hovering craft and rose above the plain. From there, the full wonder of the landscape became visible.
The world was not empty at all.
It was overflowing with civilisation.
Every pebble held a story, every small space contained a world, and intelligent beings everywhere seemed drawn towards the same extraordinary act: coming together to create something greater than themselves.
