Robert Gene Smith has posted a YouTube video:
Can the mind override physical anesthesia? A psychiatric nurse who experienced childhood abuse and later struggled with extreme sensitivity to pain during a dental procedure. Despite receiving 20 anesthetic injections, she still felt the pain. Why? The mind can act as an amplifier. Beliefs, emotional memories, and the brain’s filtering system (known as the reticular formation) can influence how we experience sensations, pain, and control. When the brain holds a powerful survival program such as “never lose control,” it can override signals that would normally numb pain. Understanding how belief systems influence perception is a key step toward recognizing the patterns that shape our reactions.
