Robert Gene Smith has posted a YouTube video:
They're narcissists. That's why you feel the way you do. So we can blame them. Or you go to church. You're a sinner. You've missed the mark. You're broken. You need forgiveness. You need saving. Or you are an atheist. You have no God. What is wrong with you? Ego. You've got an ego. Three completely different systems. Three completely different words. The same result every time. Someone else holds the power over why you feel the way you feel. And you remain a victim of the model. Here is what I notice. I look at models of thinking. And every model that tries to explain why you are broken โ narcissist, sinner, ego ends up doing the same thing. It keeps you looking outside for the cause. Which means the answer also has to come from outside. Which means you have no power. The Christian model I grew up with says something is fundamentally wrong with you, it is your fault, someone died because of you. That is a model. A useful one for a group to hold over people. Not a useful one if you are actually trying to change. The real question is not which word the system uses. The real question is: does the explanation give you the power to change? Or does it keep you managed, dependent, and looking to someone else for the solution? Which model have you been living inside of? Drop it in the comments. ๐๏ธ Full Episode 43 of The Robert Gene Experience is on Spotify and YouTube now.
