And safe meant maybe... maybe... she'd get the love she needed. She carried that blueprint into everything. Into nursing (where being good enough meant people wouldn't get hurt). Into her marriage (where she was subservient at home and strong at work, compartmentalizing just to survive). Into a body that eventually said, enough. Keep everyone away. Stay safe. Build the walls higher. That's what MCS was doing. It wasn't a malfunction. It was the most loyal protector she had ever built, executing the same program the little girl wrote decades earlier. And it all went back to childhood. Every single thread. No matter what she tapped on, her subconscious brought her right back there. Because that's where the blueprint lived.
